Mustache Heart Puppet
Mustache Heart Puppet
I was looking to make something moveable and perhaps something silly to wave around the classroom during kindness month at school, which is the month of February. Make a bunch of these in different styles to create an act of kindness narrative. Materials:

Step 1. Trace two heart shapes onto foam sheets, one smaller than the other. Punch out small hearts for hands and feet, a circle for a nose, and of course the mustache.
Step 2. Glue the two large hearts together to make the body.

Step 3. Glue the hands and feet to the ribbon, sandwich the ribbon between two hearts, then glue them to the body.
Step 4. Embellish the face with materials like pipe cleaners, then glue your creation to the paper straw.

Shoutout!
February 15, 2016 I was so happy to see that Anne, a teacher all the way from Maputo Africa, was inspired by the easy foam heart puppet posted just below. She said "we did it in under 1 hour with stuff we could find in my studio (felt, cardstock, googly eyes and straws). The kids really enjoyed it..." It's so nice to connect with artists and teachers from all around the world! Thank you for looking to The Art Dream for inspiration!
