Mini Heart Crown
Make this adorable crown for Valentine's Day, birthday or any special celebration. The girls adored this little mini headband and couldn't stop looking at themselves in the mirror.
Positive reinforcement is such an important teaching strategy when working or raising kids. Catching them being good and rewarding them for it is a challenge but it's a technique that I believe works. Reward a child for doing the right thing instead of punishing them for doing a bad thing, this is the idea behind shaping behavior. The kids like all sorts of things but what about rewarding your little one with a crown for a day? I think they'll get a kick out of it! Maybe some lucky kindergarteners will get a chance to wear this fancy golden "headpiece"! See the tutorial below... |
Materials:
Step 1. Create a patten to trace onto the gold paper. My crown is about 3"x 6". A simple triangular shape is great to make the peaks. Trace and cut.
Step 2. Score lines onto your gold crown cutout so that it's easier to bend. Embellish the crown as you wish, I layered a little pink heart on top of a bigger gold heart.
Step 3. For the feathered heart detail, I cut 2 pieces of cardstock at about 6"x6". Trim the top so that it looks like the roof of a house. Use shredding scissors to cut the "grass" detail. If you don't have shredding scissors, you can use regular scissors. Trim some strands to create various heights. Glue on small hearts to each end.
