Look at These Star Wars Inspired Art Projects!
Reposted on Instagram by FamilyFun Magazine!!!

I honestly couldn't believe how much the kids are into Star Wars these days! It's amazing how a phenomenon can captivate the imaginations of people generation after generation. I was excited to let my students create some Star Wars inspired art, they had a blast and made some "far out" pictures... I just loved that R2-D2, Princess Leia, and those First Order Stormtroopers (they are FIRST ORDER Stormtroopers as a kindergartener corrects me when I just called 'em Stormtroopers hehe).

Soon after I posted a photo to share on Instagram, FamilyFun Magazine reposted it on their Instagram feed... To say I was excited is an understatement. I couldn't wait to show the kids, I even had 36"x24" posters of the images above printed out to hang in the classroom!

Check Out These Snowman Collages!

I just love celebrating winter, and so do my kindergarten students. They made some pretty "cool" winter scenes with a little three dimensionality. Students added trees, snow, scarves, hats and even earrings to these fancy snow people!

Paper Quilling

Quilling has been seen more and more these days and boy is it beautiful! There are some artists out there that do outstanding work. I introduced my students to the technique and they took to it right away. I was amazed at what they created.

It takes a great deal of patience (which is a skill my students need to work on) and dedication to work with the quilling technique. I think they did a fantastic job.

In the gallery below you will notice a vase of flowers, a present, minion, Christmas tree and even a beautiful peacock.

Try quilling with your child or students. Just wrap long strips of paper, I cut mine at a half an inch, around a lollipop stick, apply glue and adhere to a background. The process is a bit of work but well worth it.
