Snowman Paper Quilling
Quilling involves long strips of paper (I cut mine at half and inch wide) and wrapping them tight around a little stick. My students used the white lollipop sticks used for cake pops and such. For more professional quilling projects look for special quilling tools.
Once the strip is all rolled up, you dip it in glue and then adhere it to your background. I suggest using a strong cardstock or even chipboard as your canvas, the more quilled shapes you add the heavier your artwork becomes.
Experiment with the ways you can bend and curl your quilled up shapes, the kids were surprised when they realized you can bend them into squares, triangles and hearts!
Materials:
Step 1. Sketch out a drawing of your choice onto your canvas. Be sure to think simple because small details will be quite a challenge.
Step 2. Cut strips of paper at 1/2 inch by at least 9", you want the strips long so that there's more to curl.
Step 3. Place your stick at the top of a strip of paper and roll it up tightly. When you get to the end remove the stick but maintain the rolled up strip.
Step 4. Pour a little glue into a paper plate and dip one end of the shape into the glue, place it where you want and hold for a few seconds.
Keep adding and adding more quilled up strips, it will look amazing when it's done!
