Giraffe, Monkey & Bear Tube Craft Printables
My pre-school students had such a blast coloring these fun little characters, they are simple and easy to construct. Color 'em, cut 'em out and wrap 'em around a toilet tube!

I love that they stand up, turning them into little figures or puppets, kids can hide little surprises inside of 'em or use these characters for school projects such as dioramas!

3D Printable Flower Vase

Don't you think that 3D art is so much more impactful than 2D art? There's a sense of charm and tangibility with 3D art that isn't quite achieved with the flat stuff. It's amazing how you can take simple shapes and give them new life with just a couple of steps.

Felt Peas in a Pod Made by 3rd Grade Student!

Amongst having my 4th and 5th grade students make felt monsters, I've been having my 2nd and 3rd grade students make felt foods. Here I've shown green peas in a pod made by one of my 3rd grade students. Isn't it fantastic?
Picture
Some other foods the kids are making are cupcakes, doughnuts, blueberries, pizza slices and ice cream cones. I can't wait to show more as they finish them up.

For a guide on how I helped put these together, visit the anytime projects section of the art dream and click on the felt monster tutorial. There I have step by step instructions on how to put these guys together. Also see my felt strawberry with a link to the tutorial and a review on Sew Together Grow Together, a book about sewing for children.

Have your students or children ever sewed before? My 7 year olds have started, seems young but they are getting the gist of it. It's a great skill to have!

Bumblebee Printable & a Color Your Own Option Available Too!

I bet you're looking forward to more spring like weather, we are still experiencing snow here in New York believe it or not. I'm looking ahead to more sunnier, warmer days, to when the air is fresh and the planet is full of color again! Here to join in the festivities is this little bumblebee tube craft. Wouldn't he make a fine addition to your spring bulletin board in the classroom? Or how about on the nightstand in your little "bug's" bedroom? So many ways to incorporate this little guy into your environment... I think he's gonna make a home on my desk in the classroom for a bit!

He's the perfect reminder of spring with his bright yellow reminding us of the glowing sun! Just simply cut him out including the wings, wrap around a toilet tube, cut along the gray line and insert the wings. So much fun for little crafters.

Don't forget, if your child likes to color, try my color your own version in the printables section!

Donald Trump & Hillary Clinton Tube Craft Printables

Feeling presidential lately? I am, this presidential election has been a whirlwind already don't you think? From all the controversy surrounding Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton just the same to the media and everything in-between. The nitty gritty hasn't even begun, we still have a ways to go 'till November and I'm excited to see how the rest of this crazy election goes!

Having a political debate party? These would make a fun craft-time activity or just give 'em as favors! Kids and even adults will enjoy these much talked about political faces.

How fun would it be to get the kids involved in this election with these toilet tube political characters.

My fifth graders enjoyed them and they were looking for more! Haha

Get children involved with some of our country's biggest topics (appropriate for their age of course) and see what they have to say.

Do you discuss political topics with your children?

Or just let them get familiar with Donald and Hillary so they're aware of who's in the running to be our next president.

Cone Character Friends

Makin' some cute characters made out of cones with my kindegarten and 1st grade students. We've all seen those fantastic cone chickens, they are really fun, but couldn't we turn those cones into anything?
Picture
Dog and Cardinal Cone Craft
I started by asking my students where they might see a cone, we came up with ice cream cones, traffic cones, party hats and witches hats.

Don't forget about the animals, I think the cones could be transformed into any animal!

I wonder what your little guys will come up with?

I cut large half circles and showed them how to shape it into a cone.

Then they used scrap paper to make the details like ears, noses, legs and arms. Some student are making birds, dogs, Easter eggs and even stormtroopers.

I let my students decide on what they wanted to create, but if you want to stick to a theme then kuddos!

Here's where I saw some cool chicken/rooster cone crafts... krokotak.com

Re-designed Mermaid Printable

I took the chance to slightly re-design my mermaid printable. She now has a shell with a pretty pearl and some fun little fishy friends on her background. I also included 3 tails for you to cut out and glue to her body. Kids will love creating fantasy scenes with this under the sea beauty.

Simply cut out the entire rectangle and whichever fins you'd like. Wrap the body aroud a tube and glue, tape or staple together. Glue on the fins or use re-movable tape to switch her fins around! It's kinda like dress up.

Find the mermaid and other printables in my printables section or click on the image above!

It's easy, just print, cut and wrap around those toilet tubes you throw away all the time. Put 'em to a fun good use, plus keep the kids busy (or the adults too)! These would make great little place settings for your Easter dinner table or maybe just for the kiddie table.

Fill with grass, jelly beans, wind-up chicks or even plastic utensils... So many options!

Abstract Paper Sculptures

See How Creative Kids Can Be...

Try paper sculptures with your students, any teacher can do this not just art teachers. Use leftover scrap paper and a little imagination to create this interesting piece of artwork. Have the kids make cylinders, cones, and even pyramids to form this additive sculpture.
Let your students be imaginative with the choices they make, leaving a project open ended could be difficult for some kids, but when they are guided by basic shapes, their intuitiveness kicks in and the creativity flows.
