Last Minute Cheesecloth Mummy CraftNeed a quick last minute Halloween craft to do with the kids? Then spook 'em with this mummy made with cheesecloth. Light his eyes up to bring him back from the dead! I've seen lots of mummy tube crafts out there but for this guy I used some strips of cheesecloth. I had purchased a ton of it to make my ghostly Halloween costume this year! I had a lot of fun making it but there was so much cheese cloth left over I decided to put it to use some how. I came up with this mummy and wanted it to be a little different than all the rest and glowing eyes was a must for this simple project. A couple of holes and a t-light makes all the difference! The image above was taken under some darker lighting to see the effect of this mummy's glowing eyes! Even though the process of making this little guy is probably self explanatory I put together a little tutorial anyway. Materials:
Directions: Step 1. Paint your toilet tube black, including the inside. Let it dry well. Step 2. Punch two holes at the top using a hole puncher. Step 3. Cut strips of cheesecloth and wrap it around your mummy. Secure with glue or a stapler. Step 4. Use a glue dot on your flameless t-light to adhere it to the inside of your tube. In my photo below you can see how I'm using the side of the candle as the filler for the eyes! Isn't he scary?!

Step 1. Cut out the three sisters using your scissors or craft knife. Step 2. Wrap the bodies around a toilet tube, secure with a stapler, glue or tape. Step 3. Bend the feet to sit nicely on a flat surface, and poof! You're done! Halloween PrintmakingHere I've painted this creepy forest scene for Halloween and it looks fantastic hanging from a tassel garland I made a couple years ago, and since it's easy to print, I made two of 'em to display, and it makes for the perfect art to hang around the house, plus anyone can do this! Printmaking has found it's way into the modern art world and there are some really fantastic images out there created by using this technique. Printmaking isn't a new idea though, it dates back thousands of years! Get the kids involved with printmaking and they can produce many works of art with different variables. Take the image above and picture the background in soft pinks and reds with white birch trees instead of black and then adding little heart cutouts for leaves, this would make a fantastic Valentine's image. There's a ton of possibilities and you can check out how I made this watercolor print in the seasonal section of The Art Dream!
I'd love to see how your images turned out! See more images of this project here! Egg Carton Jack-O-Lantern Craft! Are you excited for Halloween? I feel like every year it gets to be a bigger and bigger thing, the magic of the season is something everyone looks forward to. I always love to take the time to make something handmade for Halloween, so here I've recycled some egg cartons n' made this little jack-o-lantern. I've seen lots of these on the internet, but since mine had so many holes I decided to papier mache it n' cover them up! It came out like a little piñata. See the tutorial in my seasonal section of The Art Dream.
