I love moving and transforming papercrafts how about you? This magic cube craft is crazy mesmerizing, you'll be stunned at how this awesome craft works. Eight small boxes make up one large cube that shows off several hidden images! I've featured my magical unicorn on one of the boxes along with other sweet treats like a doughnut and cookie! The other is a superhero theme with Spider-Man and the Batman symbol! This was seriously a super fun papercraft that will surely keep kids (and you) busy! If you like this papercraft then head over to my shop for some unique, instant downloads to keep the littles busy this summer! This is another exciting collaboration with hellowonderful.co who I must say executed this puzzling project beautifully, be sure to check out her video at hellowonderful.co! If you're looking to give one of these boxes a go then download the free printables below! And don't forget to check out the full tutorial to see how to put this together, you'll also be able to follow a link to more detailed video tutorials for assembling magic cubes. Please remember to save the files to your computer before printing! You'll first need to download the following file which is the pattern to make the boxes, print this page four times for a total of eight boxes.
Here are the files for the color your own unicorn cube. These get colored, cut out and glued to the magic cube after it's assembled.
Here are the files for a color your own superhero version...
Take a look at my video to see these magic cubes in action!

I plan to do this with the kids at storytime at our local library. I plan to change some of the art to be relivant to the book i read to them. Knowing the parents, I plan to have your website printed out on little cards so they can do this at home.

Hi Mary, that is so nice! I'm so glad you'll give this a try, keep in mind that this project isn't for really young kids, each cube requires you to make 8 small boxes! And you can always color or draw your own images on the cube or flip over the printout and color the back!

Hey there, thanks for trying out the papercraft! The images are all really just extras to decorate the cube, I happened to make 4 for the unicorn cube. For the superhero version, you could create your own squares or print doubles to fill in the extras!

How big do the individual cubes turn out to be? It printed much smaller than I thought. Perhaps I've done something wrong in the process. Thank you for a fun project.

Hi Marsha, the individual cubes aren't that large but they aren't tiny either. The pattern should fill the page. Tiny printouts happen when you print directly from the internet. The files should be saved to your computer first and then printed. Be sure that in your printer options "fit to page" or "print actual size" is selected. I hope this helps. Thanks for your interest in The Art Dream!

I can't make the template for the cube to print big in an 8.8 x 11, it prints very small. Can you please share how to do that, or send me a pdf?

Like several of the others, I can't get the cubes to prints large enough to use, even after saving them and trying to print "actual size". Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for a wonderful project!!

Hi Ann, it’s a bit tricky because all computers are different but if the fit to page or print actual size isn’t changing anything you might have to change the percentage size to 100%. You could also update your adobe acrobat reader, this is the program that reads and opens pdf files. Try opening the files through adobe acrobat. I hope this helps.
